DeepStack Extravaganza Event 33 Champion –
The inaugural Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza High Roller event drew the best No Limit players around for the $1,000,000 guarantee. The hype coming into this event certainly lived up to expectations as the loaded field led to a top-heavy final table. Professionals were scattered among the final nine but when the dust settled, it was the unknown quantity among them who walked away with the title.
David Stamm came into Day 2 near the bottom end of the leaderboard but worked his way up into contention and entered the final table right in the middle of the pack. Stamm used aggressive play to pick up pots and repeatedly put his opponents to the test when necessary. Stamm picked up hands at the right time and came back from a heads up deficit against Sam Soverel to claim the title.
The CEO of a California-based software company, Stamm normally plays larger buy-in events and the $10,000 High Roller fit into that preference perfectly. The $306,554 first place prize is Stamm’s largest career score and is worth more than his entire career earnings previous to this event. Just last summer, Stamm finished fourth in the DSE III $1,100 $500,000 guaranteed event and now has a first place finish to add to his career of achievement.
