Adrian Mateos

Sitting on one of the shorter stacks when the final table started, Adrian Mateos had plenty of work to do in order to move back up the leaderboard to the first place perch he enjoyed earlier on Day 2. Things went south for Mateos after he doubled up Paul Volpe earlier in the day at is was Volpe who sent Mateos out.

Mateos shoved for 194,000 on the button with A♠4 and Volpe called in the big blind with 6♣6. The K10♠8 flop kept Volpe in the lead and the 10♣ turn had Mateos one foot out the door, but he still had chop outs. The Q♣ river was not one of those outs, though, and he exits in ninth place.

Volpe is playing 1,015,000 and the second player after Chris Hunichen to cross over that barrier.
