Chris Hunichen is maintaining his chip lead so far in the Venetian High Roller final table but put a fair amount of those chips at risk against Paul Volpe, with the latter folding on the river.

Hunichen opened under the gun to 27,000 and received calls from Martin Kozlov on the button along wit Volpe in the big blind.

Action checked to Hunichen on the AQ♣8♣ flop and he bet 30,000 more. Only Volpe called and the 5♣ peeled on the turn. Volpe took the lead and bet 60,000. Hunichen called and the A♣ came on the river.

Volpe checked and Hunichen bet 200,000. Volpe mulled over the large bet and decided to fold after a minute of thought. Hunichen maintains his lead of 1,295,000 while Volpe has dropped a few hundred thousands since eliminating Adrian Mateos but is still healthy with 880,000.

A look at the updated final table counts is below with Sam Soverel nearing the danger zone of 10 big blinds.

  1. Chris Hunichen – 1,295,000
  2. Sam Soverel – 140,000
  3. David Peters – 300,000
  4. Christian Christner – 830,000
  5. Martin Kozlov – 1,120,000
  6. David Stamm – 790,000
