Paul Volpe

One of the best players in the world by anyone’s standard, Paul Volpe played up to that level during the High Roller but his run at a DSE III is at an end with Sam Soverel putting the final nail in the coffin.

Volpe was very short after Soverel doubled through him and needed to catch major heat to come back to life. Volpe gained one double through David Stamm but that wasn’t nearly enough. He was soon all-in again and the final table is now heads up.

Volpe shoved for about 350,000 with K5♣ in the small blind and Soverel looked him up with A♣10♠ in the big blind. The A85♠ flop gave both players a pair and the 10 turn left Volpe needing a five to stay alive. The A river filled up Soverel and Volpe shook hands and headed to the payout desk. Volpe earns over $133,000 after buying in on Day 2 as he adds another big payday to his career accolades.

Soverel and David Stamm are ready to start heads up play with Soverel holding an edge chip-wise over Stamm.

Sam Soverel – 3,375,000
David Stamm – 1,940,000
