Sam Soverel has been gaining on Chris Hunichen since last night and is now closing in on the chip lead.

Sam Soverel hit gin last night with two doubles in the final level of play to boost himself into third place before the start of Day 3. Soverel is now over 1,000,000 and gaining on chip leader Chris Hunichen.

Hunichen raised to 50,000 from the small blind and Soverel defended his big blind. Soverel checked the J♣85♣ flop and Hunichen bet 57,000. Soverel called and the 3♠ went check-check. Hunichen checked the 2♠ river and Soverel bet 110,000. With his opponent staring him down, Hunichen collected calling chips and dropped them in to see Soverel show K8♣.

Hunichen mucked but still holds 1,255,000 with Soverel a few blinds away holding 1,100,000 near the end of the level.
