Marty Mathis’s stack is headed back in the right direction after eliminating Thomas Zanot.

Marty Mathis was the first player to hit the 1,000,000 chip mark on Day 2 and has swung from his peak of around 1,450,000 back down to 800,000 in the levels since. More importantly than anything, Mathis is still in the tournament and taking full advantage of that fact. Mathis just sent an opponent to the rail and is back over 1,525,000 close to the end of the night.

Mathis opened to 52,000 in the cutoff and Zanot shoved for 325,000 in the small blind. Mathis called with A♠K and was ahead of Zanot’s K♣8♣. The A♣43♠10♣8♠ board was good for Mathis and he scored the knockout. Less than 20 minutes left in the day and Mathis is once again a factor on the Event 56 leaderboard.
