Ryan Laplante is among the top group of chip leaders after putting Joseph Kent to the test and getting a fold.
It’s been quite the week for Ryan Laplante. A few days ago, Laplante took second place in a four-way deal at the Wynn for $161,000 score in a field 2,320 entrants. Fast forward just a few days later, Laplante is once again in the thick of things in a field of a similar size as he looks for his second six-figure payday of the week after taking down a quality pot.
Joseph Kent raised from early position to 17,000 and Laplante defended his big blind. Laplante checked the 9♣5♣4♥ flop and Kent continued for 30,000. Laplante flicked in a check-raise to 75,000 and Kent called without much hesitation.
The turn was the Q♥ and Laplante wasted little time putting Kent all-in for his last 175,000. Kent folded with some frustration and the 3♥ flipped up from his hand as his cards hit the muck.
Laplante is now the chip leader at his monster of a table that includes Craig Varnell, Harrison Gimbel, and Darryll Fish as the field continues to narrow down.
