In an event as massive as Event 56, it feels right to start the day’s coverage with a look at a few of the chip leaders who come into Day 2 with a head start on the rest of the field.

Matthias Eibinger and his 480,000 chips currently lead the Day 2 field as he bagged the chip lead on Day 1C. According to the ever-reliable Hendon Mob, Eibinger is nearing his fourth cash of the summer and second of the DSE III series but this event marks his first chance at a massive score. It certainly won’t be easy for Eibinger with Paul Volpe and Event 53 runner-up Viliyan Petleshkov on his direct left but he has the chips to make their lives uncomfortable.

Dean Baranowski put together a successful Day 1B and bagged a strong 327,500. Baranowski has been putting together consistent results on the tournament circuit for a few years now and is positioned for yet another deep run. Earlier this summer, Baranowski put together an impressive feat when he cashed in three events at three different properties over the course of a single day but thankfully only has to worry about one payout receipt for today, or perhaps on Day 3.

No stranger to large fields or seven-figure prize pools, Kelly Minkin and her 399,000 chips are a force to be reckoned with. Minkin’s biggest tournament scores have come in events with at least 1,000 entries and is right in her comfort zone with the 2,216 players in Event 56. We are long ways away from the final table but should Minkin make it there, a podium finish would push her career tournament earnings over $1,000,000.
