Ramin Haijyev is the short stack with 10 big blinds but John Dolan ignored the $20,000 pay jump and found a double through Zach Donovan.

Dolan shoved for 2,820,000 in the small blind and Donovan double-checked his cards before calling with A10♣.

The Q♠J of Dolan was plenty live going to the flop. The A appeared in the window but the J♠ and J followed behind it.

The 10 turn didn’t do much for Donovan and the 6 river gave Dolan the double. With the blinds going up, the top-three stacks are all bunched together.

John Dolan – 5,720,000
Jonathan Karamalikis – 5,650,000
Zach Donovan – 5,450,000
Ramin Hajiyev – 1,730,000

Jonathan Karamlikis is firmly in second place behind Zach Donovan following turn and river value bets against Ramin Hajiyev that put him over 5 million.

Hajiyev opened for a standard raise under the gun and Karamalikis called in the big blind. Karamalikis check-called for 200,000 on the 10♣52 flop and led for 550,000 on the 10 turn. Hajiyev took 30 seconds to call and the Q river completed the board.

Karamalikis used 15 seconds to assemble 1,250,000 and Hajiyev called in less than a minute.

The A♣10♠ of Karamalikis elicited a “nice hand” from Hajiyev and he drops to the danger zone.

Jonathan Karamlikis – 5,560,000
Ramin Haijyev – 1,200,000

Event 118: Joseph Hebert Eliminated 5th ($49,000)

Joseph Hebert

The short stack when Day 3 started, Joseph Hebert hand little room for error or to get unlucky. It was the latter for Hebert, who fell to Zach Donovan in fifth place.

Donovan raised to 260,000 under the gun and called a shove of 1,350,000 from Hebert’s big blind.

Hebert was in the lead going to the flop with K♣K♠ against the A10♣ of Donovan.

The Q♣9♠8♣ flop offered Donovan a straight draw and the 10♠ turn provided two more outs heading to the river. The A♠ proved perfect for Donovan and he expands on his chip lead.

Zach Donovan – 8,860,000
Joseph Hebert – Eliminated

The final five players are back for Day 3 play of the Summer Saver II $1 million guarantee. Zach Donovan is the chip leader with close to 40 percent of the chips in play holding 7,750,000.

All four players who trail are capable in their own right and have an eye on the $190,000 first-place prize. Two players, in particular, stand out.

Jonathan Karamalikis finished second in the $3,500 $3 million guarantee in last summer’s DSE III and looks to pick up his first title of the DeepStack Championship Poker Series.

John Dolan is a past November Niner and in the spirit of the Main Event final table being today, perhaps can use that mojo to climb his way to victory.

Levels today are 40-minutes and there should be quite a bit of action with the blinds picking up the pace.
