Well, another successful DeepStack Showdown tournament is in the books. This time, our Event #8 $400 NLH MonsterStack $100K GTD tournament drew 344 entrants who combined for a prize pool of $115,240. Of those, 47 players found themselves returning for Day 2, each hoping to break the top 36 and cash.
We reached the final table pretty quickly, and the eliminations were quite steady thanks primarily to our champion Brandon Waggoner who, single-handedly, eliminated six of his remaining nine final table opponents. He was aggressive, that’s for sure, raising and shoving with some frequency, always keeping his opponents on the defensive. This aggression—coupled with some sick luck—gave this very vocal Dallas, TX transplant a nice victory.
As was the case with our last multi-day DeepStack Showdown tournament, a three-handed deal was struck that included a save; however, whereas Event #3 took some time to finish, this event was over pretty quickly, and our final three seemed quite happy with the outcome.
