Frankie Flowers

Heads up play between Frankie Flowers and Jeff Battaglia lasted for all of one hand and Battaglia took down his first career Venetian title.

Battaglia shoved the button and Flowers called for 1,850,000 with K♣Q♥. The two lives cards of Battaglia were close to even and both players paired up on the QJ210♣8♠ flop. Battaglia picked up a straight draw on the 10♣ turn and completed it on the 8♠ river to earn the title.

Darryll Fish

Darryll Fish came close to getting over the three-handed hump but couldn’t quite make it past table nemesis Jeff Battaglia.

Fish moved all-in for 1,750,000 in the small blind with 64 and Battaglia called with A♣7♠. The J♣82810 board was a whiff for Fish and he is out in third place. Battaglia holds a huge lead over Frankie Flowers heads up for the title.

Frankie Flowers – 1,850,000

Kyle Caslin

Kyle Caslin found one double during four-handed play but it wasn’t enough to wear off the natural chip attrition of the antes.

Caslin moved in for 1,240,000 from the small blind with J♠10♣ and Flowers snapped him off with K♠J♣.

The A9♠8♠ flop gave Caslin straight outs but he improved no further on the 8 turn and A♣ river.

Flowers chips up to 3,075,000 and Darryll Fish is the three-handed short stack with 1,850,000.

Frankie Flowers dealt another two doubles and is back to the middle of the four-handed pack.

Kyle Caslin was all-in for 1,060,000 in the cutoff with AK♠ against the KK of Flowers and found a favorable Q♠10♠5J♠2♠ runout to double.

Then, Flowers shoved for 1,270,000 in the small blind with A9♣ into Darryll Fish’s big blind. Fish held 55♠ and a six-high board gave him a double up.

Flowers paid out the doubles and is down to 2,500,000.

Frankie Flowers lost a large chunk of his stack to Jeff Battaglia but managed to regain all of it and then some by eliminating Nuri Kural and Johnny Smith.

Flowers shoved for a few hands in a row and then on the fourth occurrence (this time in the cutoff), picked up a caller picked up a caller in Kural on the button, who had a few hundred thousand less than Flowers.

Kural needed help for his remaining 950,000 with A♠5♠ against the J♣J♠ of Flowers. The 6♣6610K board busted Kural and he earns $12,744.

The perpetually short-stacked Smith rolled 960,000 in the middle with A♣7 in the small blind and was met by the 10♣10 of Flowers in the big blind.

Flowers flopped a set and turned a full house leaving Smith drawing dead to the river. Smith takes home $16,993. Chip counts for the final four are below.

  1. Frankie Flowers – 4,350,000
  2. Darryll Fish – 1,775,000
  3. Jeff Battaglia – 5,650,000
  4. Kyle Caslin – 790,000

Frankie Flowers’ run as one of the chip leaders is done for the time being. An ill-timed river payoff against Jeff Battaglia leaves Flowers with under 15 big blinds midway through Level 30.

Flowers opened the cutoff for a standard raise and Battaglia defended his big blind. Both players checked the K10♣3♠ flop and Battaglia took the lead for 400,000 on the 9♠ turn. Flowers called and Battaglia bet 800,000 more on the A river.

With about twice that behind, Flowers tanked for five minutes announcing that he put Battaglia on queen-jack. Despite every instinct in Flowers saying he should fold (his words), he called to see Battaglia roll over Q♠J.

Battaglia extends his lead and Flowers needs some water to help his sub-10 big blind stack.

Jeff Battaglia – 4,765,000
Frankie Flowers – 825,000

Darryll Fish

Darryll Fish remains the primary protagonist in the later stages of Event 134 and doubled for the third time through Frankie Flowers.

Flowers raised to 1,000,000 on the button and Fish shoved for 1,270,000 out of the big blind. A splash of chips went in from Flowers and he was in a dead heat with 2♣2 against Fish’s A♣10♠.

The J♣33♠ flop gave Fish the requisite counterfeit outs and the J♠ turn proved perfect. Flowers’s third deuce did not come through on the 10♣ river and Fish is now second in chips behind Jeff Battaglia.

Darryll Fish – 2,650,000
Frankie Flowers – 2,000,000
Jeff Battaglia – 4,150,000

Anthony Wynn

Darryll Fish’s ascension from two big blinds is at a peak thanks to his elimination of Anthony Wynn in seventh place.

Wynn raised off of a sub-15 big blind stack to 160,000 in the cutoff and Fish threw the all-in hook for 810,000 from the big blind.

With 675,000 behind, Wynn took some time and called with 9♣8♣. Fish’s A5♣ was in the lead but Wynn jumped ahead on the QQ9♠ flop.

The 7♣ turn did nothing to help Fish but he reeled in the A♣ on the river to win the pot. Wynn is out and Fish is chipping up near the tournament endgame.

Darryll Fish – 1,525,000
Anthony Wynn – Eliminated
