DSE III: Series In Review

CP3_6092

This year’s DeepStack Extravaganza III promised to be the largest in history with $21,000,000 in guarantees and it exceeded every expectation. A total of 142 events populated the schedule with buy-ins ranging from $200 all the way up to the first ever $10,000 High Roller, up from 135 in 2016. Tens of millions of dollars in prize money was awarded and below are some statistics that highlight just how big DSE III was in 2017.

  • 37,712 total players (up 26% from 2016)
  • 11,754 unique players
  • $31,530,863 in total prize pools awarded

The series as a whole broke all records and there are a few specific events that stood out in making this series the best DSE III yet. Event #38 $1,100 MSPT $2,500,000 guaranteed drew a field of 3,273, creating a prize pool of over $3,200,000. The field set records for both MSPT and The Venetian. Also, Event #33 $10,000 High Roller $1,000,000 guaranteed brought in 107 entries and set a new bar for highest entry fee in DSE III history.

There was a total of seven events with 1,000+ entries and nine fields managed to create prize pools that topped $1,000,000. Not to be out done, there were four tournaments that reached the $3,000,000 prize money threshold capped off by Event #103 $5,000 Card Player Poker Tour $2,000,000 guaranteed event, which drew a record field of 688 runners.

Players were rewarded handsomely for great finishes this summer with 33 players earning at least $100,000 for a single cash with Javier Gomez’s $561,349 win in Event #103 topping them all.

Buy-ins of all sizes did well this summer and the $600 SuperStack events were indicative of this trend. The multi-day events crushed all guarantees and the single-day tournaments drew 2,846 total entrants with over $1,470,000 awarded across 16 events. The largest payout in a single-day $600 event was to Andrea Iocco, who won $50,216 in Event #78.

There are plenty more DeepStack series coming up with the August Extravaganza starting on August 10. The 2018 DSE III schedule will be made available in the early part of next year and we hope you will join us then for more action from the best place to play poker in Las Vegas.
