DeepStack Extravaganza IV Event #40 Final Table Wrap Up

Well, yet another successful DeepStack Extravaganza series tournament is in the books. This time our Event #40 $400 NLH DoubleStack $100K GTD attracted 351 players over our two flights. Of them, 44 survived to Day 2, and 36 found themselves in the money.

It took quite a while to get to the final table, unlike other recent tournaments. Once we did, however, we had a veritable World Cup lineup with players from Norway, Brazil, Italy, the UK, and the US.

Defending champion of this same tournament earlier in this series—Event #20 $400 NLH DoubleStack $100K GTD—Mike Youngman came to the final table third in chips, but he couldn’t really get any cards or establish momentum this time around.

The chip lead moved around quite a bit with runner-up Bruno Meneghel taking it for quite a while early on and having it going into the Level 27 break when we were five-handed. However, he ran into some coolers that saw his chip stack rise and fall until, ultimately, he finished in a very respectable second place.

Jack Oliver, despite coming into the final table with the shortest stack, was able to eliminate five of his opponents and rally not only to take and lose the chip lead a few times, but once we were four-handed, Oliver shifted into overdrive (on the left side of the street since he is British), hit the accelerator, and never looked back.

Congratulations again to Jack Oliver from the UK with his win, his hefty $27,047 prize, and his brand new, beautiful, highly coveted Venetian Poker Room trophy.
