DSE NYE Event #11 Final Table Wrap Up

Well, another successful DeepStack Extravaganza tournament is in the books. This time it was our DSE NYE Event #11 $600 NLH DoubleStack $150K GTD that attracted 369 players who combined for a guarantee-crushing $188,190 prize pool. Of these players, 59 of them made it to Day 2, and 45 eventually found themselves in the money, vying for a $40,000+ top prize.

Our final table was the usual mix of locals and visitors from both here and abroad, and these men didn’t waste any time getting down to business asserting themselves and trying to get a read on their opponents. As is oftentimes the case with a final table, there are period where nothing much happens interspersed with rapid eliminations and/or double ups, and today was no different.

Our top three chip leaders entering the final table were, interestingly, our final three left standing.

The final table went one for some time—nearly six hours, in fact—and even our heads up battle lasted longer than usual.

When we were heads up, at one point, Jeff Eldred and Quan Tran were very close in chips; however, after Eldred’s cracked aces, he chuckled that he was “on tilt” and, unfortunately, it turned out to be true. Tran was relentless, almost like a shark circling his wounded prey. Eldred put up a valiant fight and finished a very respectable second.

Congratulations again to Quan Tran on his victory, his hefty $41,407 prize, and his brand new beautiful and highly coveted trophy.
