Sean Jazayeri almost had Bobby Poe eliminated and by the same token, dodged elimination himself in the span of two hands.

Jazayeri opened to 180,000 in the cutoff and Poe shipped for 1,960,000 out of the small blind. James Rice folded the big blind and Jazayeri called with J♣J♠. Poe turned over A♣Q♣ and promptly flopped an ace to take the lead. No jack came for Jazayeri and Poe raked in the double.

A few hands later, Jazayeri was all-in for 1,915,000 with K♦J♠ versus the 8♣8♦ of Mark Manesh. The Q♥10♥9♣ flop was about as good as Jazayeri could ask for as he hit the nuts to double.

Ross Ward

Ross Ward improved his cash result in the DeepStack Championship Series but not his overall place as he busted in fifth place.

Sean Jazayeri opened under the gun for 180,000 and Ward put in 100,000 more from the big blind. Ward checked the Q♣9♦4♦ flop and Jazayeri bet 200,000.

Ward check-raised all-in for 910,000 and Jazayei couldn’t call fast enough with A♦Q♦. The Q♠J♣ of Ward was behind and stayed that way through the 3♣ turn and A♣ river.

Mark Manesh

Mark Manesh and Michael Wang battled in a pot for close to half of the chips in play with Manesh coming out on top in dramatic fashion.

Manesh checked from the hijack on a J♥8♥7♠ flop and Wang bet 625,000 in the cutoff into a pot of about that much. Right away, Manesh shoved for what was counted down to be 3,295,000 total.

Wang went into the tank with most of his chips on the line as Manesh taunted him by saying the bet was for “Your entire stack, bro.”

Three minutes passed by and Manesh called the clock on Wang. 10 seconds were left in the countdown and Wang called with A♦J♦. Manesh held a serious draw with A♥10♥ and picked up more outs on the 10♦ turn.

The 4♥ filled Manesh’s flush and he let out an emphatic “Yes!” when the card hit.

Wang sent the required chips over and is now down to 600,000. Manesh is up to 7,450,000.

Joey Weissman

The hits keep on coming at the Event 18 final table during the current level. Joey Weissman is the latest to go and as a result, Michael Wang is the new chip leader.

Weissman bet 125,000 into about 200,000 from the small blind on a flop of K♣10♦4♣ board. Wang called from the big blind.

Weissman relinquished the betting lead on the 5♠ turn and Wang took the chance to bet 425,000. About 20 seconds passed and Weissman moved all-in for just under 1,000,000.

Wang beat him to the pot with A♣A♥ and Weissman had to catch with K♦2♦. The 8♥ missed Weissman and Wang is up to 4,440,000.

Marcelo Drumm

Sean Jazayeri’s upswing in Level 28 continues thanks to another elimination. In one of the first hands he entered at the Even 18 final table, Marcelo Drumm wound up on the wrong end of a flip and is out.

Drumm’s all-in for 855,000 from the lojack was met by a call from Jazayeri in the cutoff. Drumm needed to catch with J♣10♣ against the 8♣8♦ of Jazayeri.

The A♥10♦8♥J♥6♠ board favored Jazayeri and Drumm hit the rail.

Ted Hickman

Ted Hickman managed to get a few three-bet shoves through to stay afloat in the last level but his first all-in of Level 28 would be his last.

Hickman moved in for 1,155,000 under the gun with A♥10♠ and Sean Jazayeri woke up with K♣K♦ in the big blind. Jazayeri was all-in for 925,000

A runout of Q♣Q♥8♣6♠J♣ served Jazayeri well and he doubled. Hickman was eliminated by Michael Wang a few hands later to earn ninth place.

Brian Schaffer

Brian Schaffer was the short stack at the start of the Event 18 final table and despite hanging on for almost two full levels, could not make a pay jump.

Ross Ward raised to 120,000 under the gun and Schaffer pushed for 575,000 in the lojack. The rest of the table folded and Ward called right away with A♠K♦. Schaffer was an underdog with A♦J♦.

The Q♣7♦5♦ flop gave Schaffer a flush draw but he could not catch on the 4♠ turn or 10♣ river.

Michael Wang

There’s finally some chip movement in the Event 18 final table. Michael Wang put a turn shove in on Bobby Poe and is up to second on the leaderboard as a result.

Wang raised the small blind to 140,000 and Poe defended from the other side of the dealer.

Both players checked the K♣6♦4♦ flop and Wang led for 175,000 on the 7♣ turn. Poe took about a minute to raise to 450,000 and the action was back on Wang.

Wang took his time and three-bet shoved for 1,325,000 total on the coordinated board. Poe folded 10 seconds later and Wang was rewarded with the pot.
