The DSE III series has been primarily populated by players hailing from the western portion of the United States but that is starting to shift this week. More players from the East Coast are making their way in each day and two of those temporary transplants are battling it out in today’s $250,000 guaranteed event.

Jim Gilbert is one of the most familiar faces in tournaments on the East Coast, namely in Atlantic City, and he has gained notoriety on a national level in the last few years. Gilbert placed second in the Borgata BPO WPT Main Event in September 2015 and made the final table of the SHRPO “Big 4” $2,650 event last summer. Gilbert is someone we should see plenty of this summer as he opens his 2017 account today.

Michael Wang burst onto the poker mainstream a few summers ago when he opened the 2015 WSOP with his first career bracelet win. That win was worth a whopping $466,000 to Wang, who defeated a final table that included Greg Merson, Bryn Kenney, and Byron Kaverman. Wang doesn’t stand out physically at the table but his game has a reputation all of its own that is on display for Day 1A.
