A total of 487 entrants have registered, bringing the prize pool up to about $475,000. With a field size of this magnitude, the first six-figure prize winner of DSE III could be on the horizon.

Over 100 events populate the DeepStack Extravaganza schedule and with this week’s $1,100 SuperStack event on tap, a few players are hoping that this is the event that jumpstarts a highly profitable summer in Sin City.

Vegas local Dutch Boyd pops his head into the Venetian Poker Room on a regular basis and wasn’t about ready to miss this week’s $250,000 guaranteed event. Boyd’s live poker career stretches back to the early days of televised poker when he made a deep run and finished 12th in the 2003 Main Event. The promise that Boyd showed then has been fulfilled by his three bracelet victories and he is in search of his first career DSE title on Day 1B.

Most of the temporary East Coast transplants that were touched on during Day 1A recently arrived in the last few days but Je Wook Oh beat them all here by a full week. Oh has been a fixture at the Venetian since the DSE III series started but has yet to make a major run in any of the events he’s played in. That drought is bound to end at some point for Oh, who does quite well in large fields as evidenced by his recent fourth place finish in a herd of 3,000 at the Borgata where he earned $92,000.

Through the first three levels of Day 1B of the $1,100 SuperStack $250,000 guaranteed, the field size has already eclipsed the 196 entries from yesterday. So far today, 204 players are in the field, bringing the combined total up 400 entrants. Registration and unlimited re-entry are available for until the start of Level 10 (approximately 6:50 pm) and the total prize pool figures will be released at the end of Day 1B.
The $250,000 guarantee for this event was hit before play officially started in Level 1 and with the flexible deep structure available, it would not be a surprise to see at least 100 more entries in the next few hours before the registration period concludes.
The DSE III series is overtaking all expectations in its third week with guarantees being smashed and exciting events on the schedule every single day. The highest buy-in on the schedule through the first 23 events is taking place today with the $1,100 SuperStack, but there are even more on the immediate schedule worth noting. Below is a look at a few of the notable events for the remainder of the week with among the events listed being the DSE $10,000 High Roller and the first mixed game events of the summer.

The first event of the DSE III series with a buy-in over $1,100 came a little earlier than normal this year but has already proved to be a great success. The $250,000 guarantee is already hit with Level 1 just getting started on Day 1B. Registration and re-entry are open until approximately 6:50 pm today and there is a great chance for more entries than the 196 who made it to the cage yesterday.
Same with yesterday, there will be nine 40-minute levels with a break at the end of every third level. The 30-minute dinner break will be at the end of Level 9 and the registration period will be officially closed once Level 10 begins.
As the early part of Day 1B progresses, the Venetian Poker Room blog will have periodic updates from the field along with a list of chip counts, payouts, and the Day 2 seat draw at the end of the night. When the registration period closes, the total prize pool will be posted and given the current numbers for this event, a full double-up of the guarantee is far from out of the question.
