DeepStack Extravaganza Event 53 Champion –
Neil Patel

In one of the most loaded final tables of DSE III, it was a relative, but accomplished, unknown who took down the title. Neil Patel started the Event 53 final table as one of the short stacks but had everything work in his favor as he rode the run-good wave to victory.

Patel tripled up and claimed the chip lead with eight players remaining when his jacks held against the 10s of Darlene Lee. Just a short while later, Patel won a crucial QQ>AK flip against Andrei Konopelko to hold about 40 percent chips in play with six players remaining. From there, Patel trended around that stack and advanced to heads-up play with a slight deficit against Viliyan Petleshkov. Patel quickly took control of the match and finished off Petleshkov immediately after.

Patel won the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event in Tunica this January for $192,000 and nearly matched that effort here today. It remains to be seen what the rest of the summer holds for Patel but we certainly hope to see him back at the Venetian in the near future.
