Lamont Davis

The final table is one player closer to reaching a champion with Lamont Davis the next player up to exit the tournament area. Kevin Johnson came out of break firing all-in but it was Davis who is the first to go in the new level.

Davis open-shoved for 495,000 from under the gun and “Jack Smith” called in the small blind with yet another big hand. Smith showed AK against the K♠J of Davis and collected his opponent’s chips following the 866♣310♠ run out. Smith is now far out in front of the pack with 1,400,000, good for almost half of the chips in play.

Similar to Event 32, which took place yesterday, Event 35 has hit a final table lull following a few early eliminations. The remaining seven players are on a short break and will return to only 100 big blinds in play. The pace of bustouts should pick up once play resumes as the final seven compete for the $21,675 first place prize. A look at the updated chip counts and remaining payouts is below.

Steven Anderson

“Jack Smith” is making a run at the Event 35 title and pushing toward the top of the leaderboard after eliminating his second opponent of the final table. Steven Anderson is that unlucky player and the final table is now down to seven.

Anderson moved all-in for 170,000 from under the gun and Smith looked him up on the button with KK♠. Anderson had some work to do with A♠J♠ and picked up a little something on the Q♣J10 flop.

The 7♠ turn did not improve Anderson and neither did the 2 river. He earns $2,409 for his run today and Smith chips up to 495,000, right behind Kelly Slay and Lamont Davis for the chip lead.

Event 35: Steven Lipkins Eliminated 9th ($1,927)

Steven Lipkins

Another Event 35 short stack is out from the final table with Steven Lipkins falling to Jack Smith. Jacks have been hot so far and Smith utilized them to take out Lipkins.

Smith raised to 40,000 in middle position and Lipkins went all-in from the small blind for a few chips more. Smith called and turned over JJ♠. Lipkins trailed with AJ♣ and missed on the ensuing 1043♣7♠9 board.

Smith chips up to 345,000 and is right in the middle of the final table pack.

Stephen Russo

Starting the final table with less than six big blinds, Stephen Russo needed to catch a few breaks to jump back into contention. The opposite occurred for Russo as bad luck against Kelly Slay sent him to the rail as the first player eliminated.

Russo moved all-in for 55,000 from early position and Slay called from the big blind. Russo was ahead with A♠K against the KJ♠ of Slay but a jack on the flop put Slay into the lead. Russo commented on the “sickness” of the situation as the rest of the board bricked to certify his elimination.

Slay increases her chip lead and is playing 620,000.
