There isn’t much to say about Adrian Mateos that hasn’t already been said, but we’ll do our best. At just 22 years old, Mateos has already gained the reputation as one of the best No Limit tournament players of his era. With over $8,800,000 in earnings, Mateos’s aura speaks for itself and he already has two WSOP bracelets along with an EPT Main Event to his credit. Mateos is a High Roller savant, as well, and is ready to face the challenge that comes with this weekend’s event.

Event 35 Winners (From left): Gary Dishongh, Alan Phillips, David Grey

Shortly after the elimination of Kevin Johnson, the four remaining players started talking about a potential deal to chop up the remaining prize pool. After a few minutes of deliberation, they came to an agreement, netting them all a sizable pay day. By virtue of having the most chips at the time of the deal, the player who asked to remain anonymous, Jack Smith, takes home the official title of event winner and earns $15,966. All three of the other players earn at least $10,000. A look at the chip counts at the time of the deal and final payouts are below.

  1. “Jack Smith” – $15,966 (1,165,000)
  2. Gary Dishongh – $13,259 (820,000)
  3. Alan Phillips – $12,121 (675,000)
  4. David Grey – $10,358 (450,000)

Kevin Johnson

Kevin Johnson battled hard to stay alive for as long as possible at the Event 35 final table to stay alive but finally succumbed to the short stack pressure and is out in fifth.

Alan Phillips limped in from under the gun and Johnson shoved for 90,000 from the big blind. Phillips called with 88 and Johnson’s Q♣J♣ was at risk. The K♣10♣6 flop gave Johnson and open-ended straight flush draw and he was a favorite heading into the turn. The K♠ gave Johnson, even more, outs but Phillips managed to fade them all on the 6 river to eliminated Johnson.

Phillips is at his final table peak with 700,000 as four-handed play is set to begin.

Kelly Slay

The first major post-flop pot of the final table has officially taken place as Kelly Slay is on the rail thanks to Gary Dishongh.

Slay limped in from early position and Dishongh completed his small blind with David Grey checking his option. The Q4♠2 flop checked to Slay, and she bet 80,000. Dishongh responded with a check-raise to 190,000, leaving himself with 150,000 behind. Grey folded and Slay spent three minutes in the tank before moving all-in.Dishongh called right away, tabling 44.

Slay was drawing nearly dead with Q♠9♣ and missed any chance she had of catching up on the K♣ turn. Slay was left with fumes after the hand and busted shortly after.
