Shawn Nelson

Shawn Nelson took it upon himself to bring the field from five to three in Event 13. The first to go was Michael Youngman with Ross Ward following up right behind.

Youngman raised to 275,000 under the gun and Nelson called in the small blind. Nelson moved all-in on the K♠8♠7 flop and Youngman called with K♣10♣. Nelson was drawing with 109♠ and took care of business on the 6♠ turn. No nine on the river meant the pot went to Nelson and Youngman headed to the payout desk.

Ward placed his last 675,000 in the middle with A4 and held three immediate outs versus the A♠10 of Nelson. An ace flopped but no chop outs came with it and Ward takes fourth place.

Three-handed chip counts are below with Nelson playing over seven million.

Michael Youngman – $8,830
Ross Ward – $11,662

  1. Ben Palmer – 3,220,000
  2. Peter Morris – 3,600,000
  3. Shawn Nelson – 7,730,000
