Matt Affleck outlasted a field of 563 entries to win Event 28: $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em Summer Kick-Off $500,000 Guarantee for $115,273, making him the first six-figure winner of DeepStack Championship Poker Series.

Ahmed Taleb held the chip lead through most of the final table, but when heads-up play began Affleck soon turned the tables and took the lead for himself.

Taleb, down to less than 1,000,000, moved all-in from the button with A♦2♥ and Affleck called with K♥J♥. Taleb spiked a two and hoped for a double-up following a Q♣6♦2♣ flop, but Affleck picked up a pair of Kings with the K♠ on the turn. The river was the 3♣, cementing Affleck as the winner and Taleb runner-up for a $70,811 payday.

Yuebin Guo was down to 10,000 earlier at the final table but is now over 1,000,000 thanks to his elimination of Michael Bees.

Bees raised under the gun and Scott Rist three-bet the small blind. Guo flatted the big blind and Bees called for the rest of his chips.

Rist checked the Q♦8♣7♣ flop and Guo bet. Rist called and then led the 10♦ turn. Guo called and then got his last 75,000 in on the 8♠ river.

The A♣A♠5♦3♣ of Guo was enough to win the pot after Bees and Rist both mucked. The four-handed counts are below.

The short-stacked Omaha final table loses another one with Eric Pratt on the rail. Scott Rist picked up some chips from chip leader Sergey Zaporozhets to reduce his lead over the field.

With Pratt all-in preflop for less than a big blind, Rist and Zaporozhets were heads up to a A♠Q♥10♠ flop. The street checked through and Zaporozhets bet the Q♣ turn. Zaporozhets bet the 4♠ river and Rist raised. Zaporozhets folded and Rist turned over A♣K♣Q♠10♦ for a full house. Pratt mucked and Rist took in the pot.

Sergey Zaporozhets is up to 2,150,000 chips after taking a sizable pot from Yuebin Guo on the river with Guo folding down to 10,000 as a result.

Rylen Sanehis raised in early position and Zaporozhets called the hijack with Guo calling the button.

Sanehis checked the Q♣10♣5♦ flop and Zaporozhets bet. Both of his opponents called and Zaporozhets bet again on the J♦ turn. Sanehis folded and Guo called to the 3♥ river. Zaporozhets bet again and Guo took two minutes before folding what he said was a series of missed draws.

Guo, Ross Campo, Eric Pratt, and Mack Lee are all under 100,000 with the blinds up again.

The expected all-ins happened at the start of Level 23. Ross Campo and Mack Lee both found salvation and have at least another orbit to hang around.

Campo was all-in from the small blind for 15,000 as Scott Rist and Yuebin Guo limped in from early position. Lee checked his option and the 10♥9♣2♥ flop checked around. Lee moved all-in for 20,000 on the 3♥ turn and both opponents called.

The J♣ river checked and Campo showed A♦Q♠8♣5♦ for a straight to capture the main pot. Lee’s 5♥4♠3♦3♠ won the side pot and the two players live on for now.
