Another successful DeepStack Championship event is in the books. This time, our Event #72 $3,500 NLH $2M GTD attracted 650 players who created a prize pool of $2,047,500; covering the guarantee of $2,000,000. Of those, 72 made the money, collecting $6,757 for their efforts.
The final day saw 13 players return. After an hour and a half of play, the final table of ten was set. Paul Fisher, Julien Stuer and Corey Kempson (who would bubble the final table) all missed out.
The first three players to fall; Diogo Veiga, Danny Tang, and Elio Fox were all eliminated within the first hour of play.
Mohsin Charania and Dimitrios Farmakoulis followed shortly after to leave the final table at five.
Five-handed would then last four-and-a-half hours as the players battled it out. The chip lead also changed several times between Henri Buehler, Ran Ilani and Troy Quenneville.
Steven Sarmiento nursed his short stack for several hours before ultimately falling in fifth place to Buehler.
Ran Ilani then dispatched of Dylan Linde in fourth, Quenneville in third, and Buehler in second over the next three hours before earning himself his maiden Venetian title.
As well as collecting $419,731 and the highly coveted trophy, Ilani also received a stunning and unique pendant handcrafted by jeweler extraordinaire Steve Soffa.
Congratulations again to Ran Ilani from Israel.
