Another successful DeepStack Championship event is in the books. This time, our Event #99 $1,100 NLH Summer Saver II $1M GTD attracted 1,552 players who created a prize pool of $1,513,000; smashing the guarantee of $1,000,000. Of those, 224 returned for Day 2, with 171 making the money and collecting 1,967 for their efforts.
Day 2 commenced with 224 players returning. After ten hours of play the field condensed down to the final ten. An additional four and a half was then needed before a champion was crowned victorious.
The final table started with the chip leader, David Olshan, eliminating both David Tuthill and Ezekeil Shelton in quick succession to extend his lead.
Diasuke Ogita joined in the action shortly after, when his pocket jacks took care of Paul Kelly’s queen-jack to see Kelly fall in 8th place.
The next four eliminations occurred hourly. Fan Tao fell to Benjamin Thomas in 7th place, Guo Dong was eliminated by Mateusz Moolhuizen in 6th place, David Olshan was taken out by Dobromir Nikov in 5th place and then Thomas hit the rail to the hands of Nikov to leave four players.
Moments later Nikov found himself all in with ace-jack and trailed Moolhuizen’s ace-queen. He was unable to improve which left the event heads up.
Moolhuizen and Diasuke Ogita played a handful of hands, before Ogita three-bet shoved with ace-king and ran into Mxolhuizen’s pocket queens. The board ran out nine-high and Ogita was eliminated leaving Moolhuizen victorious.
