Well, another hugely successful DeepStack Extravaganza III tournament is in the bag. This time, our Event #12 $340 NLH DoubleStack $100K GTD attracted 397 eager players. Of those, 54 survived to Day 2, and 45 players found themselves in the money.
Our final table was quite an eclectic blend of mostly locals with big personalities. Unlike last week’s tournament of this same event where we had one dominating player, the chip lead moved around quite a bit—all the way until the final heads-up chop, in fact.
Our second-place finisher, Phil Beck, was quite short-stacked throughout most of the day, even well into the final table. Beck made sure to inform everyone who would listen that despite his frequent play in our wonderful poker room, he hadn’t made a final table here in nearly three years, so he was, indeed, happy about his accomplishment today. In fact, once we got to four-handed play, he had the chip lead; however, a last-ditch effort by champion Adrian Armendariz who eliminated Seat #4 in 3rd place eventually gave Armendariz a slight chip lead and, thus, the win.
Congratulations again to Adrian Armendariz on his win, his respectable $19,788 prize, and, of course, our beautiful trophy. Even though Armendariz is a regular fixture in our poker room, this was his first trophy, and he was quite excited.

Congratulations again to the rest of our final table.
