DSE I Event #21 Final Table Wrap Up

Well, another DeepStack series tournament is in the books. This time it was our DeepStack Extravaganza I Event #21 $400 NLH UltimateStack $100K GTD that attracted 451 players who combined for a total prize pool of $148,830. Of them, 90 players returned for Day 2, and 54 found themselves in the money competing for a top prize of nearly $32,000 (and our highly coveted trophy and new championship coin.)

With play commencing at 11:00 am, we actually reached the final table relatively early, at approximately 5:30 pm. Our final table had several familiar faces both from near and afar, and a couple of new players. Regardless, they were a very friendly and skilled group who made for a pretty nifty final table.

The final table got off to a hurried start with an elimination right off the bat, then play calmed down a bit until our next two players were eliminated. At this point, the first of our several “stop the clock, please, we want to discuss numbers” pauses occurred, but despite much conversation, play always continued until we were heads-up when Errol Samuel and Tony Gordy eagerly agreed on an even two-way chop.

Champ Gordy eliminated four opponents while runner-up Samuel knocked out three. At one point near the end, Samuel had a massive chip lead, but Gordy’s late rush won him enough chips to eventually take the lead, and the victory.

Congratulations again to Tony Gordy on his win, his $26,148 prize, his brand new silver championship coin, and his gorgeous and highly coveted Venetian Poker Room trophy.
