Another highly successful DeepStack Series tournament is in the books. This time it was our DeepStack Extravaganza I Event #26 $800 NLH MonsterStack (8Max) $250K GTD that attracted 437 players who combined for a guarantee-busting prize pool of $305,900. Of these, 69 made it to Day 2, and 48 of them found themselves in the money vying for a $69,260 top prize.
Once we reached the final table, it lasted for nearly six hours. Our final nine were predominately locals along with a few familiar faces from outside Las Vegas. It was a great bunch of guys who kept the action upbeat and fun.
Play started out rather slowly with not much to report. Once we had our first few eliminations, the final table hit its stride and there was considerable action until the end. Champ Glenn Poole was among the chip leaders entering the final table; however, at one point, he was short-stacked, but he clawed his way out of the abyss. His huge triple up when we were four-handed gave him the momentum he needed to stay on top and coast to the finish line and a nice first place payout.
In fact, the chip lead bounced around a bit with stacks rising and falling like the tide. Eric Blair had the lead through the majority of the final table, but, as is oftentimes the case with poker, he suffered through a few unlucky hands, thus eliminating him in a very respectable fourth place. Runner up James Czarnecki was able to manage his bobbing chip stack to finish in second place.
Congratulations again to Glenn Poole who is taking home a hefty $69,260 first prize, a gold championship coin, and our beautiful and highly coveted trophy. This is Poole’s first Venetian Poker Room trophy and his largest first-place live cash.
Congratulations again to the rest of our final table.
