DSE I Event #34 Final Table Wrap Up

Well, another successful DeepStack Tournament is in the books. This time it was our DeepStack Extravaganza Event #34 $1,600 NLH Main Event that attracted 599 players who vied for the $1M guarantee. Of them, 212 returned for Day 2 along with another 117 players who made it in before the tournament closed. Of these players, 72 found themselves in the money, and 64 returned for Day 3 competing for a top prize of $208,900.

As usual, our final table was a mix of locals, visitors, regulars (and irregulars). They were a pleasant and quite skilled bunch who wasted no time jumping into the action. After a few quick eliminations, play slowed considerably.

Of our final table players, five of them were in the top 13 chip counts returning for Day 3. In fact, runner up Davis Harari was second overall entering today. Champion Anthony Spinella was a bit further down, while our other three players were closer to the other end of the chip count spectrum. In fact, fifth-place finisher Daniil Shalaev had the third smallest stack entering today. Also, with respect to Harari and Shalaev, each won entry into the Main Event from one of our $200 satellites, and both men actually played in the same satty.

It took us quite a while to reach the final table—it was nearly 10:00 pm when we did—and everyone was expecting a rather long night, so it came as no surprise that when we were five-handed, our remaining players had a rather lengthy discussion about a chop, given the late hour, and struck a deal with all five gentlemen walking away quite happy.

Congratulations again to local Anthony Spinella on his hefty $165,000 prize along with a gold championship coin and our beautiful and highly coveted trophy. This is Spinella’s third Venetian Poker Room trophy.
