Congratulations to Vladimir Mefodichev from Russia who finished ninth in our DeepStack Extravaganza I Event #42 $1,600 NLH Main Event $1M GTD winning $20,587.

Mefodichev shoved from the small blind after Mitch Garshofsky min-raised from the cutoff, and Jesse Sylvia re-raised to 415K from the button. Garshofsky got out of the way, and Sylvia snap called. It was Mefodichev’s pocket tens versus Sylvia’s pocket Kings, and the Kings reigned supreme.

As is to be expected in a tournament such as this, with high-caliber players, slow and methodical play is oftentimes the norm. There have been some small pots won and lost, but nothing of any serious consequence. Stay tuned, however, as there is much action to come.

We just had a gutsy move by Barry Hutter. Following a preflop bet by James Carroll of 125K which Hutter called, and a post flop c-bet by Carroll that Hutter also called. The post turn was 8♣ 6♦ K♥ J♥. Hutter checked again, and Carroll bet 425K which Hutter called. When a 5♦ came on the river, Carroll, again, led out with 555K and Hutter shoved. After some contemplation, Carroll folded.

Joey Weissman just recouped some of his earlier losses. This time Weissman min-raised preflop from the button and Barry Hutter shoved from the big blind. Weissman snap called and flipped over Q♦ A♦. Hutter had K♠ Q♣. When the board ran 6♠ J♥ 9♦ 4♥ 3♣, Weissman doubled up his 1.76 million chip stack.

Ben Ector just had a nice double up versus Joey Weissman. Weissman raised to 115K from the cutoff, and Ector shoved with his 1.265 million chip stack and pocket Queens. Weissman flipped over pocket tens. With a 5♣ 7♣ A♥ J♦ 2♦ board, Ector’s Queens held up.

Congratulations to Rok Gostisa from Slovenia who finished tenth in our DeepStack Extravaganza I Event #42 $1,600 NLH Main Event $1M GTD winning $17,041.

Gostisa min-raised from UTG+1 and was called by Peter Vitantonio from the hijack, and J.F. Villacanas shoved with his remaining 1.295 million chips. Gostisa called all-in and Vitantonio folded. Villacanas showed A♥ K♦ versus Gostisa’s pocket Queens. When the board ran J♣ 5♠ 10♥ A♠ 3♠, Gostisa was out.
