Keith Morrow earned a place on the Event 23 podium but came up just shy of a DSE III title, falling to Brian Altman.
Heads up play between Brian Altman and Keith Morrow had the potential to be a lengthy match with both players plenty familiar with one-on-one battles during their career. Altman got the better of Morrow in a few small pots and then won the biggest all-in of the night to ship the title and complete his final table performance.
Altman limped the button and Morrow moved all-in for 1,920,000. Altman took an inventory of his stack and contemplated what to do before making the decision to call, putting Morrow at risk. Morrow was ahead with A♥J♣ but Altman held two live cards K♣9♣.
The A♣5♣5♥ flop paired Morrow and gave Altman a flush draw. The flush came in on the 7♣ turn, leaving Morrow needing an ace or five to stay alive. The 10♦ river missed Morrow and the two players shook hands and congratulated one another.
Morrow takes home $65,429 and has his summer off to a great start. A winner’s recap will be posted shortly.
