Barry Hutter’s chip lead has officially been relinquished at the Event 23 final table thanks to Rick Alvarado, who notched a major double through Hutter.

Hutter opened to 65,000 from middle position and Alvarado three-bet to 180,000 out of the small blind. Hutter called and the flop came down J♠9♣7♣. Alvarado continued for 175,000 and Hutter responded with a raise all-in. Alvarado called for 305,000 more with AA♠ but had plenty to fade against the 9♠8♠ of Hutter, who had multiple sets of outs at his disposal.

The Q kept Alvarado ahead and the 6 river completed his double. Hutter drops to 1,300,000, putting Ben Ector in front while Alvardo is now hovering around third place next to Brain Altman and “Jack Smith.”
