Chris Hunichen was up against the tide when Level 28 got started and was on the downswing after he lost a critical all-in to Paul Volpe in the level prior. Hunichen needed to win at least one all-in to have a chance but Volpe finished the job he started.
Volpe pushed from the small blind and Hunichen called in the big blind for 520,000. Hunichen had A♣K♥ and Volpe’s A♦6♦ was in a precarious spot.
Volpe said he had a feeling he would win the hand and the 8♦5♥8♦ flop put him in a spot to do just that. The 10♠ turn put more chop outs in play but the K♦ river is what Volpe was looking for as he hit a flush.
The start of Day 2 and Day 3 chip leader is on the rail and Volpe is right on the edge of 2,000,000. Three-handed play is underway with Stamm and Volpe near each other with Sam Soverel trailing at 1,200,000.
