Daniel Bland

Immediately after the elimination of Matt Schultz in fourth place, the three remaining players came to a deal. With his overwhelming chip lead, Daniel Bland had all of the negotiating power and used it to leverage the deal in his favor.

Karo Galstyan and Kevin Nguyen were both playing south of 2,000,000 and agreed to split the difference between second and third place money. They will each earn $48,254 for their two days of tournament play.

Both Galstyan and Nguyen earn their largest career tournament scores for their respective finishes. Galstyan managed to hold on through a few chip swings to make it on to the tournament while Nguyen laddered up his short stack for the duration of the final table and was rewarded for his patience.

Bland earns first place money ($90,303) along with his third career DSE III title. Bland won titles in the summer of 2014 and 2015 and is back on the winning track in 2017. He is off to his native country of England this week but will hopefully be back again soon to The Venetian for future DSE play.

Matt Schultz

Right after the elimination of Christopher Franco, the Matt Schultz followed him to the payout desk. Schultz grinded a short stack for most the final table but got unlucky in a big spot against Daniel Bland.

Bland shoved on the button with Q♣6♣ and Schultz called with K♥J♥ in the big blind. The A♣K♣3♠ flop put a good sweat in play as Schultz paired up and Bland picked up a flush draw. The fifth club came in on the 8♣ turn and Bland locked up the hand.

Schultz is out just shy of the podium and earns $30,564. Bland is over 9,000,000 and running away with the Event 63 final table.

Christopher Franco

The majority of Level 32 went at a much slower pace than its predecessors. A lot of pots went raise and take with barely any reaching showdown. Christopher Franco put himself at risk a few times and finally got a caller in Daniel Bland.

Franco shoved for 2,200,000 under the gun with K♦Q♠ and Bland called on the button with 9♠9♣. The A♠4♣2♥5♣5♦ board ran true for Bland and Franco is out in fifth. Bland holds over half of the chips in play with 6,850,000. The four-handed chip counts are below.

Weiyi Mo

The variance of all-in players surviving their encounters is finally starting to swing toward the other hand of the pendulum with Weiyi Mo and Vlad Tkachuk both on the rail.

Daniel Bland opened to 255,000 and Mo shoved for 1,055,000. Action folded back to Bland and he mulled it over before calling. Bland opened 9♣9♦ and was flipping against the K♦Q♦ of Mo. The K♣J♦2♠ flop put Mo ahead but the Q♠ turn and 10♠ river gave Bland running straight cards to eliminate Mo. He increases his chip lead to 4,800,000. Mo earns $10,651.

Vlad Tkachuk

Tkachuk shoved in the small blind for 600,000 with A♦Q♦ and Karo Galstyan looked him up with A♥6♦. A six on the flop worked for Galstyan and he held to eliminated Tkachuk. Glastyan is playing 2,400,000.

Kevin Nguyen is now the shortest stack with 700,000.

Daniel Bland has been hovering near the chip average for most of the final table but is now the first player to hit 4,000,000 with Kristy Arnett taking the hit.

Picking up the action on a board of 8♥6♥2♣9♣, Bland bet 220,000 and Arnett called. The river was the A♦ and Bland bet 580,000. Arnett cut out the chips from her stack and then called. Bland showed A♥8♠ for rivered two pair and Arnett mucked. Bland is playing 4,100,000, good for nearly one-third of the chips in play.

Right before the end of Level 30, Karo Galstyan doubled with A♦K♥ against the J♣10♦ of Vlad Tkachuk in a blind-versus-blind shove, to leave Tkachuk short-stacked.
