Another successful DeepStack Championship event is in the books. This time, our Event #81 $1,600 PLO (8Max) $200K GTD attracted 226 players who created a prize pool of $323,180; eclipsing the guarantee of $200,000. Of those, 24 made the money, collecting $3,393 for their efforts.
Day two commenced at noon, and reached the final table of nine, after five hours of play. An additional six hours was needed before a champion was crowned victorious.
A full hour of play saw the nine players battling with each other, with several of the short stacks doubling up, and staying in contention.
Robert Toye was the first to fall in ninth. The next three players (Andrew Donabedian, Robert Fisher and Maxim Pisazenko) fell in the space of an hour. Play then slowed up, with each of the next three eliminations (Caleb King, Ramin Hajiyev and Colin Wickersheim) happening every hour.
Four handed belonged to both Karim Chatur and Igor Sharaskin, who took down most pots, before the last two eliminations saw them reach heads-up.
Chatur had the chip lead, but Sharaskin worked his way back, taking the eventual lead which he never relinquished.
Congratulations again to Igor Sharaskin from Russia.
