Another successful DeepStack Championship event is in the books. This time, our Event #87 $600 NLH DoubleStack $200K GTD attracted 726 players who created a prize pool of $373,890; surpassing the guarantee of $200,000. Of those, 81 made the money.
The single day event started at noon on July 4th, and after almost 15 hours of play, finally reached a final table of ten. Just over two hours was needed before a champion was crowned.
The action started quickly with four players; Seat 4 (10th), Kenneth Mann (9th), Jonathan Neale (8th) and Nanjit Singh (7th), hitting the rail in the space of thirty minutes.
The remaining six players looked at a possible chop, but two players disagreed on the numbers, so play continued. Enand then fell in sixth place.
The remaining five players once again looked at numbers following the elimination. This time one player disagreed and play continued.
Jean Koja fell next in fifth place. He got it all in on the flop with his straight in the lead against Michael Phizicky’s two pair. The river king gave Phizicky a full house and the chip lead.
Trevor Williams was the last player to be sent to the rail. His pocket fours were not match for Chrysi Phiniotis’ pocket nines.
The final three players then agreed to a chop which saw Seat 6 finish in third, Chrysi Phiniotis finish second, and Michael Phizicky awarded the victory.
