Timur Margolin is over 3,000,000 thanks to a double up against Chris Tryba.

The reduced pace in Event 99 continues as the field has yet to hit the final two tables. Timur Margolin and Kurt Jewell both found doubles and are alive for time being.

Peter Nigh shoved for 1,000,000 in early position with A♠K and Jewell called on the button with J9 for 475,000 total. A nine came on the turn and Jewell was rescued from his elimination. Nigh is now down to less than 10 big blinds.

Margolin got his last 1,450,000 in the middle with A9♠ but was behind the KK♠ of Chris Tryba. An ace came on the turn and Margolin is over 3,000,000. Tryba takes a hit down to 4,200,000.

Victor Figueroa and Jason Mann are both on the rail and the field is down to 19.

Chance Kornuth was feeling giddy after hitting a two-outer to move over 5,000,000.

The trend of preflop all-ins has subsided in Level 27 for the most part and more hands are playing out in standard fashion. Chance Kornuth and Chris Tryba are both over 5,000,000 as a result of taking down sizable postflop pots and are the two current chips leaders.

Kornuth eliminated Xixang Luo to get where he is. Luo opened under the gun and Kornuth in middle position along with Jonathan Tamayo in the big blind saw a 964 flop. Tamayo and Luo checked to Kornuth and he bet 265,000. Tamayo called and Luo check-raised to 1,200,000.

Kornuth played with his chips and started down Luo for a few minutes before moving all-in for 2,750,000 total. Tamayo folded and Luo called for about 1,900,000 total with 9♠9. Kornuth trailed with JJ♠ and didn’t catch anything on the K♣ turn. The J♣ river, however, gave him a better set to send out Luo. A stunned Luo was unable to move from his seat for a minute as his tournament life flashed before his eyes.

Kornuth raked in the chips and is playing 5,100,000.

On an adjacent table, Tryba checked under the gun on a J♣6♣3♠ flop and Yaniv Peretz bet 325,000 into a pot of 700,000. Tryba called and the J♠ came on the turn. Both players checked and the J hit the river. Tryba checked again and called a bet of 475,000 from Peretz. Peretz’s K9 could not beat Tryba’s 7♣7 and Tryba took in the pot. He is up to about 5,250,000, putting him just ahead of Kornuth for the chip lead.

Since the three table redraw, there have been plenty of all-ins with a majority of them taking place on Table 17. Chance Kornuth and Oddie Dardon both lightened the field by one and have their stacks near 3,000,000 as a result.

Viktor Lavi was all-in for 695,000 with JJ♠ against the K♣K♠ of Kornuth. The runout of Q8♠6♠1010♣ allowed Kornuth’s kings to hold and send Lavi to the rail. Kornuth is up to 2,850,000,

Will Givens opened under the gun to 100,000 and Brian Okin shoved for 730,000 in the cutoff. Dardon called from the small blind and opened up AA♣. Givens folded and Okin’s 99♠ was in trouble. The K♣10♠4♣Q♠6♣ board secured the hand for Dardon. His stack is 2,960,000. With the blinds about to go up, there is plenty more all-ins to come in the immediate future.

Chris Tryba flopped a set at an optimal time and doubled up into the chip lead.

Chris Tryba has been near the top of the chip counts for most of Day 2 and is back on top once again after doubling up through Dilo Vanhussen.

Tryba opened in early position and faced a small three-bet from Vanhussen. Tryba called and the flop came out 942♣. Tryba checked and Vanhussen bet 350,000. Tryba shoved for 1,500,000 and conversed with Vanhussen about the contents of each other’s hand. Vanhussen called for effectively his entire stack totaling 1,500,000 and was trailing with 88♠ against the 9♣9 of Tryba.

The Q turn did not give Vanhussen anything and the 6♣ river left him with a single big blind. Tryba doubled to 3,300,000 and is the current chip leader.

Andy Philachack sent one out and is approaching 2,000,000 with 31 players left in Event 99.

Andy Philachack has been quietly building in the last few levels and effectively doubled up by sending out an opponent.

A player in early position shoved for 775,000 and Philachack reshoved in the cutoff for 820,000. The button and blinds released and Philachack opened up Q♣Q♠ and was facing the AJ♠ of the early position player.

The 107449♣ board played to Philachack’s hand, earning him the knockout. Philachack is up to 1,700,000 with the redraw on the immediate horizon.

Allen Cunningham sent a foe to the exits and is playing 1,300,000 in Event 99.

Some of the more experienced players are throwing their muscle around in Level 25 as Allen Cunningham sent one player to the rail and then Thayer Rasmussen doubled up through Viktor Lavi.

Cunningham had an opponent at risk for 300,000 with 8♣8 and had an advantage over the other players’ 5♣5. The K109♣7♣A board held Cunningham’s hand and he chips up to 1,340,000.

On another table, Rasmussen was all-in for 770,000 with A♣Q against the AK♣ of Lavi. The KJ♠4♣ flop gave Rasmussen a gutshot and he turned the 10 to take the lead. Rasmussen faded the chop on the river to double up. He is playing 1,600,000 with Lavi now down to under three big blinds.

Viet Vo is almost to the 3,000,000 mark and in front of the Event 99 field.

Players have returned from dinner and the chips are flying once again. More players are crossing over 2,000,000. The field will redraw at 27 players and we should reach that point in the next two or three levels. Viet Vo is back out in front with 2,900,000 but there are quite a few players who have the ammo to catch him if the right hand were to break a certain way. Below is a look at the Level 25 leaderboard.

Peter Nigh – 2,540,000

Chance Kornuth is near the chip lead as the Day 2 dinner break hits in Event 99.

The fast-paced play of earlier today continued in Level 24 as the field is under 50 heading into the dinner break. Peter Nigh was the recipient of one of those all-ins and is over 2,600,000 as a result while Chance Kornuth is building near 2,000,000 after taking down a few small pots.

Andrew MacDonald opened to 50,000 in the cutoff and the player on the button shoved for 190,000. Nigh stuck in a raise to about 375,000 from the big blind. MacDonald got out of the way and Nigh opened up Q♣Q, which led the 1010 of his opponent. The K♠Q9♣10♠9♦ board gave both players sets but Nigh’s took down the pot.

On a board of QQ♠63♣, Viktor Lavi checked from the big blind and Kornuth bet 66,000 from the hijack into a pot of about 115,000. Lavi called and the two players checked the 5 river. Lavi showed A♣8 but Kornuth had the smallest pair 2♣2 and won the pot.

Heading into the dinner break, Kornuth is playing near 2,500,000. Updated counts will be posted once play resumes at 6:40 pm.

Peter Nigh is right behind chip leader Viet Vo as the Event 99 field nears dinner break.

The Event 99 field is paring down at a swift pace and only seven tables of hopefuls remain. There is likely to be two or three tables left in play by the end of the night and only seven full levels remain by the time that comes. The average stack will likely hover around 30 big blinds for the rest of the tournament and any player over 1,000,000 is within immediate striking distance of the chip lead.

Vieto Vo holds the current lead of 2,250,000, putting him slightly ahead of tablemate Peter Nigh. As the blinds continue to escalate every 40 minutes, we are likely to see the two collide at some point.

Players will be on a 30-minute dinner break at the end of Level 24 and then return to play the final six levels of the night. A look at the updated leaderboard is below.

Viet Vo – 2,250,000
Peter Nigh – 2,200,000
Oddie Dardon – 2,000,000
Will Givens – 1,740,000
Andrew MacDonald – 1,420,000
Chris Tryba – 1,300,000
