Patrick Khayat – Event 36: $1,600 Pot-Limit Omaha MonsterStack 8-Max $250,000 Guarantee – $67,306

The first four-figure PLO buy-in event of the DeepStack Championship Series brought in a fun group of players for the $250,000 guaranteed event. The eclectic final table assembled early on Day 2 with Patrick Khayat among them.

The 34-year-old Khayat hails from Lebanon and is a global citizen of poker with cashes around the globe. The first win for Khayat comes today at The Venetian and earns him $67,306.

Khayat opened the final table in the middle of the pack and folded his way up the pay ladder. Once play reached three-handed, Khayat made his move and busted Skylar Gonzalez to set up heads up with Chad Campbell.

The deck worked in Khayat’s favor and he dished out consecutive coolers to win himself the title. With more PLO events and major guarantees on the upcoming DeepStack Championship Series schedule, we expect to see more of Khayat in the coming weeks.

Skylar Gonzalez lost a few small pots to Chad Campbell to fall below 1,000,000. Those chips went into the middle in a massive spot that Gonzalez fell just shy of connecting on.

Gonzalez raised the small blind to 120,000 and Patrick Khayat three-bet to 360,000 from the big blind. The bet was matched by Gonzalez and he took the lead on the J65♣ flop by shoving for 600,000. Khayat called with A♣AK♣5♠ and had to fade the 9♣88♣7♠ wrap of Gonzalez.

The 3 turn missed Gonzalez and bricked the other side of the board on the Q♠ river.
