Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth blinded down in the latter part of the Event 99 final table and was never above 15 big blinds in the new level. Kornuth shoved and almost got through Athanasios Polychronopoulos, but a thought-out call by Polychronopoulos proved to be correct.

Kornuth jammed for 2,900,000 in the hijack and Polychronopoulos tanked for two minutes before calling for most of his stack in the cutoff. Kornuth showed up with Q♠10 and Polychronopoulos had him out-kicked with A♣Q. The AK♣Q♣ flop gave both players a little something and the A turn gave Polychronopoulos the hand.

Polychronopoulos is playing 6,500,000 and Kornuth earns over $65,000 for his final table run.

Chris Tryba limped the small blind and Dardon raised to 640,000. Tryba called and the two players checked the J♠82♣ flop. Tryba checked the 4♣ turn and Dardon bet 600,000. Tryba called and they both checked the 9♣ river. Tryba announced “fives” but Dardon’s KJ took the pot. Tryba is playing 10,200,000.

Athanasios Polychronopoulos opened to 500,000 under the gun and Dardon three-bet to 1,600,000 in the cutoff. Polychronopoulos thought about it but released to maintain his stack of 3,500,000.

Tono Seunsom

While other players were getting pots around him, Tono Seunsom blinded down throughout the course of the final table. Seunsom attempted to chip up by shoving but Oddie Dardon flipped better to send out Seunsom.

Seunsom moved all-in for 2,325,000 with 5♠5 and Dardon called with AQ♠ right next to him. The K♠9♠2♠ flop put a flush draw in play for Dardon and he picked up more outs on the J♣ turn. The Q river paired him up and Seunsom left for the payout desk.

Dardon is playing 12,200,000, putting him about 1,000,000 ahead of Chris Tryba for the chip lead. Chance Kornuth is the new short stack with 2,400,000.

Allen Cunningham

Coming into the new level under 10 big blinds, Allen Cunningham had little choice but to put his chips at risk and was sent to the rail by Chris Tryba.

Cunnigham shoved with K10♠ from early position and Tryba called out of the blinds with A9. The Q♣106 flop put Cunningham ahead but Tryba picked up equity on the 9♠ turn. Tryba hit another nine on the 9 river and Cunningham’s tournament was promptly over.

Tryba extends his chip lead and is playing 12,400,000. Additionally, Mitch Schock doubled again when he won a flip with K♠Q against the 77 of Athanasios Polychronopoulos. A queen hit the turn and Schock doubled his stack of 975,000. Polychronopoulos is playing 5,100,000.

Kurt Jewell rode a short stack in the later stages of Day 2 and started Day 3 in a low position. Jewell needed to get a double but wound up losing a flip for his tournament life.

Yaniv Peretz opened to 330,000 in early position and Jewell three-bet all-in for about 1,200,000. The action folded back to Peretz and he called with 77♣ to put the AQ♠ of Jewell at risk. The K9♠6J♣3 board held up for Peretz and he scored the elimination. With the level about to go up, he is playing 5,700,000.

Cunningham shoved for 1,300,000 with A4♠ and Schock called with 9♣9♠ for 850,000. The board held up for Schock and he gained a much needed double.

Down to 435,000, Cunningham shoved a few hands later and got calls from Oddie Dardon, Athanasios Polychronopoulos, and Tono Seunsom. The 94♣379 board was checked down by all players and went it came time to showdown, Cunningham’s A♠4 was enough to take the pot. Kornuth asked what he thought Dardon put him on and Dardon named three different hand combinations, much to the table’s amusement. Kornuth laughed as he slid in a call and the K♣ came on the river. Dardon moved all-in, putting Kornuth at risk, and Kornuth’s hand went into the muck.
